9th Annual Dorridge Fun Run 16th June 2013

You are warmly invited to join us on Sunday 16th June at the 9th Dorridge Fun Run and Summer Fair to continue the charity fund raising successes of past years. Our aim for 2013 is to better last year’s tremendous success when we exceeded the fund raising target of £30,000 due to a record number of entrants and supporters, and to take our fund raising for charity to the over £200,000 in total!

Everyone, no matter their ability, can genuinely take part in the Dorridge Fun Run, and even spectators and supporters can have a great time at the Summer Fair. There is a choice of 3 or 8 mile distances through beautiful Warwickshire countryside where you can run, walk or cycle. In fact, any form of non-motorised transport is allowed – and actively encouraged. This is an event that can be enjoyed by absolutely everyone from serious runners and occasional joggers to children, whole families, babes in pushchairs, senior citizens and even pets. All in complete safety on traffic free roads.

Furthermore, participants and their supporters can relax afterwards at the Summer Fair in the extensive grounds at St. Philip’s Church Centre in Manor Road. In an atmosphere set by a live music, there will be a barbecue, plenty of refreshments including a bar, plus a large range of stalls, entertainment and children’s games.
Started at St Philip’s Church Centre by Malcolm Stent at 10.15 (cycles) and 10.30 (runners and walkers) the route follows a figure eight shaped course through Darley Green, Packwood, Chessetts Wood and Bakers Lane finishing up again at St Philip’s. The event is under overall police supervision. All roads are closed, fully marshalled and signposted with water stations and a full St John Ambulance presence.
There is ample parking (large and signposted car park within walking distance) and the start is easily accessed by public transport (Dorridge railway station is merely 400 yards distant). Men’s and women’s changing facilities are available.
All participants must register and pay entry fees beforehand. It may be possible to enter on the day but only if there is availability. It is cheaper and highly recommended to register well in advance.

Due to the growing success of the Dorridge Fun Run, we are pleased to announce that we are raising funds for six principal charities this year; The Lily Mae Foundation, SoLO (Solihull Life Opportunities), CAG (Challenge Adventure Group), Motor Neurone Disease Association, Darwin Explorer Scouts and Help Harry Help Others.
We are encouraging all participants to raise as much additional money as possible for these charities through personal sponsorship, a form for which you can download or if you prefer, JustGiving can be used.

Once again thank you for your involvement and support for these very worthwhile charities. We look forward to seeing you on 16th June,

The Dorridge Fun Run Committee
