6th Annual Dorridge Fun Run 13th June 2010

You are warmly invited to join us on 13th June and help make the 6th Dorridge Fun Run the most successful in our history. Every year has seen an increase in numbers and in 2010 we are hoping to reach new highs of 1,500 participants and £25,000 raised for charity.

Open to all, there is a choice of 3 or 8 mile distances through beautiful Warwickshire countryside where you can run, walk or cycle. In fact, any form of non-motorised transport is allowed – and actively encouraged. This is an event that can be enjoyed by absolutely everyone from serious runners and occasional joggers to children, whole families, babes in pushchairs, senior citizens and even pets. All in complete safety on traffic free roads.

What’s more, participants and their supporters can relax immediately afterwards at the Dorridge Summer Fair in the extensive grounds at St. Philip’s Church Centre in Manor Road. In an atmosphere set by a live jazz band, there will be a barbecue, plenty of refreshments including a bar, plus a large range of stalls, entertainment and children’s games.

Started at St Philip’s Church Centre by Malcolm Stent at 10.15 (cycles and walkers) and 10.30 (runners) the route follows a figure 8 shaped course through Darley Green, Packwood, Chessetts Wood and Bakers Lane finishing up again at St Philip’s. The event is under overall police supervision, key roads are closed off and all roads are fully marshalled and signposted with occasional drinks stations and a full St John Ambulance presence.

There is ample parking (large and signposted car park within walking distance) and the start is easily accessed by public transport (Dorridge railway station is merely 400 yards distant). Men’s and women’s changing facilities are available.

All participants must register and pay entry fees beforehand. It may be possible to enter on the day (10.00am deadline) but that is subject to availability and it is cheaper, and highly recommended, to register well in advance. To register click here.

All funds raised will be shared equally between Marie Curie Cancer Care and Troop Aid. Can we encourage you please to raise as much additional money as possible for these charities through personal sponsorship, a form for which you can download here or if you prefer, JustGiving can be used. Thank you.
